Personal Story:
Same story as the SAS 80's figures. I was already into the Special Force series by now and I was browsing through Medicom's site. That's where I saw this awesome toy. It was a limited Mail Order item so I was having problems finding it. People in Japan were selling them on Ebay but they were way too expensive. So I started checking out some online import sites and finally found it. But this particular site kept delaying their arrival. Finally, another site sent a newsletter out telling me they had it. Great, I grabbed it immediately. Then I found out another site had it too but it was cheaper. Damn! Oh well, impulse shopping is definitely the devil. I paid less than what the Ebay dudes were offering, but I paid more than this other online import store. Give or take. At least I know paid for its retail price...

Introduction:
This Kubrick toy is based on a vehicle used by the SAS in the 80's. It was originally made for the Medicom Toy Collector's Club only. But it was available for a limited time in some stores later on. This was the first Kubrick playset ever made. This particular vehicle was made specifically for the SAS 80's figures.

Sculpt:
The overall sculpt of the vehicle is cute. They managed to "Kubrickized" a real vehicle into a small playset. There's a good amount of details for this toy. They sculpted all the little things like headlights and such (made of clear plastic and not painted), the side mirrors (painted), windshield, the small muffler and even the bumpers are well done. I can't forget to mention that the wheels are really cool too. Everything inside the vehicle is also sculpted like the seats and the steering wheel. It looks very close to the real vehicle which is cool.

But let's talk about the features. The ladder on the top can raised or lowered and all the doors can be opened. You can even take off the top so you can put your figures into it. The wheels are also removable if you want them to fix a flat. :P Not bad. They even come with two minor accessories for your figures. They have a hammer and a pickaxe/crowbar. Lots of fun.

But, there are some disappointments with it. You can't turn the steering wheel at all. It's stuck in its place which means they didn't make the gears to turn the front wheels. Too bad. It would've been nice if the tires were made of softer plastic so they would feel more like rubber. Also, there should've been more accessories considering this item is so limited. It's a good attempt by Medicom but there could've so much more with it.

Paint:
The paint job is okay. The whole vehicle has a dull black look which prevents it from looking like a cheap toy. I like it. If you own a good enough of Kubrick figures, you'll know what the paint style is. They also gave some little metallic paint to the side mirrors and muffler which is a nice touch. But the rest of the vehicle is pretty much black.

Overall: A-
This is a cool little toy for anyone who collects Kubricks. If you own any Special Force Kubricks (especially the SAS 80's guys), then this is a must-have. It's a great playset by Medicom even though it feels a little empty from the lack of bonuses. If only there were more accessories included than this would've been great. Good job Medicom.

Where can I find this?
This was very hard to find when it first appeared but some online import stores started selling it (as of this review), so if you look hard enough, you'll find it. If you can't find it, go to auction sites like Ebay.

Other Images:

The box. It's cute how they made it look like the standard Kubrick designs. Very nice.

The front. Vrooooom!

The back with the ladder raised and the backdoor opened.

The inside. Plenty of seats for your other Special Force figures. :)
