Letters!

Here are some emails that I've received from people who visited my site. They had questions, I had answers (sorta). I can't say that any of my answers are 100% correct since I'm not an expert but it's the best I can do. Certain letters have been edited for various reasons. If you have a question or comment about this site, email me at: omochadx@comcast.net

(If you see your letter here and you want it to stay private, let me know and I'll take it off ASAP.)

Hi there! :)
I just saw your site and you have great closeups from the Yoda statue! :D
You're right, it's extremely hard to find! Saw some on eBay go for $250+ :S
Have you ever seen collectibles from The Lord of The Rings made by Sideshow? They are definitely worth looking at! :D Here's the site: www.sideshowtoy.com
The detail is AMAZING! Really awesome! They have busts and statues. Some of their statues that originally sold for $125-$300 are now selling for over $2000 on eBay! :|
I actually just got into collecting statues and busts from films. It's a great hobby! :) I have always been interested in movies (got ALOT of stuff from Titanic) and these items just the best things to collect from a movie I think :)
Have you ever seen Titanic "Rose DeWitt Bukater" figures from Galoob? Originally there were 3 released, but only one hit the stores worldwide and the other two had a limited release. Have you ever seen them? I've been searching since 1999 and I've asked alot of people over the years, but any help would be appreciated :)

I hope you'll check out the Lord of The Rings items cause they are amazing! :)

Best wishes,
Jeffrey

Hey, thanks for checking out my site. The Yoda minibust definitely rules. I also have the Jango Fett and Boba Fett minibusts but I haven't reviewed them yet.

As for Sideshow, I've purchased from their site for quite some time now. I haven't gotten any of the LotR stuff (yet) but I've recently purchased quite a number of their 12" Buffy and Hellboy figures. I also got some neat Hellboy 1/4 replicas which will be reviewed within this month. Check the site again soon for them. :)

I don't have any info on Titanic stuff so I can't help you there.

Hi,
Awesome collection you have there, truly fantastic :) I am trying to build a decent kubrick collection myself, and I was wondering if you could answer a couple of my questions--not questions about where to buy stuff or anything, just about the figures themselves. You see I'm buying a bunch of second-hand Special Forces figures and I want to make sure they're
not missing weapons or accessories or anything. The pictures and descriptions in your reviews are a great help, but I want to really make sure, so if it's not too much trouble could you please check this list of figures and their weapons, and see if I've missed any
items for each individual soldier or added stuff that don't belong:

Series 3 Future Warrior 2025: one (special?) handgun.
Series 3 ESI (green guy with gas mask): one handgun
and one sub machine gun.
Series 4 Cobra (purple bulletproof vest): one
automatic rifle, one handgun, one riot shield.
Series 4 GIGN A (blue guy with helmet): One sub
machine gun and one handgun.
Series 4 GIGN B (blue guy with gas mask): One shotgun
and one handgun.
Series 5 East Gang A: One handgun and a cellphone.
Series 6 SAS Winter A: One white automatic rifle.
Series 6 GSG-9 (green vest): One sub machine gun and
one handgun.
Series 6 Spetsnaz: One automatic rifle, one beret and
one gas mask.

If you could check this list for me I'd be really grateful. The special forces figures rock so much, but even the toughest guys can't do much without their armament ;) and yet it is those weapons that goes missing all the time. Medicom could remedy this if they released bonus accessory sets (that way we could at least give that skiing SAS guy a pistol) but I
guess that ain't happening anytime soon. Anyway, I hope this isn't too much trouble, and I'm very grateful. Thanks for the help man!

Hey, thanks for the kind words. I wish I could help but I don't remember myself. I mixed and matched some of their weapons so I have no idea what their original weapons were. But I highly recommend this site: http://www.kubism.net
It's in Japanese but you can figure out the sections easily. That guy has a ton of Kubs in his database for viewing so I highly recommend checking there. Sorry I can't help.

theres alot of kubricks in your website that you reviewed that are really easy to find everywhere. for an example, almost the whole special force series i was able to own in a rather cheap price. for the series 6, i got even the 2 secret kubrick and the impossible to find kubrick. for 40 bucks. i dont know about you but the series 6 is my favorite series, and i think you might need to change some of your rating of which item is rare and which are common. like i said earlier the serpcial force 6 series are rather new, and they are very common. but very nice site, and nice clear vivid pictures. and i love your mgs2 snake. love the hat.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I'm aware that some of the SF kubs are now somewhat easier to find but that depends on the retailers and availability on Ebay which is why they're in RARE status. They are discontinued and actually not easy to find for many collectors that I talk to so that's why they're RARE. If Medicom re-releases them in the future then that's when I'll revise my review, but for now, they are still considered RARE simply because mainstream consumers will have a hard time finding them. I usually reserve the HARD and NORMAL status to toys you can find without having to hunt for them.

Btw, check out the 'Released' dates in my review. The SF series 6 kubs were released back in 2003 so they're not considered new anymore. They may be easier to find but they are also discontinued from Medicom hence they are considered HARD to find.

Hope that explains it. Thanks for checking out my site. ^^

Hi, I just stopped by your website and saw some nice stuff. I am new to collecting toys and was wondering if you can help me out. Most of what I collect are regular action figures but I like the new toys being offered by Medicom. I was wondering if you can give me more information regarding them and others that produces similar toys. How do you know which pieces will be valuable since there are so many out in the market. Let me know, Thanks

Wassily

Hi there, Thanks for checking out my site. I cannot give you a definitive answer to what toys will become valuable because this is usually dictated by the market and demand. One way of knowing if a Medicom toy is worth money is if it's only available in Japan or if it was made as a limited run. Those are the figures that will usually go up in price. Mass produced items usually don't have any value since they're so common. For Kubricks, chase figures and any limited edition types are always worth money. For 1/6 scale figures, it's harder to dictate. It depends on the license and designer. It's very hard to determine what figures will be popular before it's released so you'll just have to buy what you like and avoid buying something just because it might be worth money in the future. That's the worst way to go.

There are many similar toys out there but I always consider Medicom one of the best so check out some toy stores that sell similar figures to see if you like them. Hope that helps.
